Coastguard's from days gone by

By Lucia - Posted on 15 January 2010

After a few trips to my local library I have found lots of very interesting stories regarding Coasties from where I live. It started when I moved to a house which wasnt very old ( my old house was over 100 years old and came with very ornate deeds with wax seals) so instead of finding about the history of the house I decided to look at Corton.

I came across old copies of the local newsletter ( which still gets delivered once a month) which looked at Corton Coastguard and Corton Lifeboat as well as other local interests.

The newsletters included great stories and pictures of the local men who manned the stations ( the Coastguard houses are still there) back in the 1800's.

I am going to start on creating a new section of staions not open anymore around the UK coast so if anyone has any info please get in touch

Keep an eye out
