Cold water shock
The warmer weather is encouraging more people to get out on the water and, with the May Bank Holiday approaching, the RNLI is warning boaters to be aware of the effects of cold water shock and reminding them to wear a lifejacket when they go afloat.
The weather might be warming up, but seawater temperatures around the UK and RoI are still low. Sudden immersion in cold water can cause increased blood pressure, a rise in heart rate and risk of gasping in water. Anyone falling in without a lifejacket will struggle to stay afloat and find it difficult to avoid inhaling water.

Retired Coastguards
My name isTerry Bearpark and I am the vice chairman of the CGA but my main role is looking after any retired coastguard officer over the age of 70 with at least 5 years service.
Every year just before christmas I will write you a letter and send a small token of £15 to show our appreciation for everything you have done for HMCG.
If you know of any Coastguard that fits this criteria then please email me straight away with details so that I can get in touch.
